Department of Computer Science

About the Department: The Computer Science department of Sualkuchi Budaram Satradhikar College was established in 2002. The department started with one-year Diploma course in Computer Application and initially, only few students were enrolled. The department has highly qualified faculties, well-equipped labs and well-structured curriculum. Despite of the limited number of staff the department has completed a glorious decade. The Computer Science and Application course for Higher Secondary section was introduced in 2007. In 2009 the Department has started a three-year TDC course in Computer Application (Vocational) and Computer Science as per syllabus of Gauhati University. The department has also introduced BCA course in the year 2011.
At present, the department consists of three faculty members i.e. Mr. Simanta Sarma as Head of the department, Mr. Amitabh Sarma and Mr. Dip Ranjan Baishnav. Both are participated in number of state level seminars and workshops and published Research papers in different journals. They also registered their name for Ph.D study.
The placement scenario of the department has been very impressive. The department provides campus recruitment facility for the 6th semester students of BCA & B.A/B.Sc (Computer Science).
In 2006 the Department conduct IT Course (CCA, BCA, B.Sc-IT, PGDCA, MCA, M.Sc-IT) of IDOL (Gauhati University).

(i) Laboratory Facilities: The Department of Computer Science and IT Centre has state of the art laboratory having 1:1 computers with LAN and Internet facility where the students can practice programming skills, projects and some hardware practices. A total of 25 (Twenty five) number of computer machine are available in the laboratory. 17 numbers of P-III with specifications of 700 MHz CPU/64 MB SD RAM/10 GB HDD/1.44 MB FDD/Intel 810 chipset mother board, 14” SVGA Digital color monitor, 52XCD ROM Drive. One Linux Server with Pentium 166 MHz /16 MB RAM/4GB HDD/1.44FDD/14“ SVGA color monitor/24XCD ROM. One NT Server with P – III , 700 MHz CPU/810 E Intel chipset motherboard/128 MB SD RAM /4GB HDD/ 1.44 FDD/ 17“ color monitor/24XCD ROM. Six Workstations with Pentium 166 MHz /16 MB RAM/4GB HDD/1.44FDD/17 “ SVGA color monitor/24XCD ROM. The major areas of laboratory practices are Programming languages, System programming, Microprocessor, Data Structure, Networking.
