The S.B.M.S. College, Sualkuchi volunteered to be assessed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and submitted the Self Study Report to NAAC in December 2003. A Peer Team was constituted by the council to visit this institution and validate the Self Study Report. The Peer Team comprising of Dr. P.K. Mishra, Former Vice Chancellor, North Orissa University, Baripada as Chairman and Dr. S. Ibochaoba Singh, Principal Modern College, Porompat Imphal and Prof. Mohit K. Ray, Former Professor of English, University of Burdwan, West Bengal as members visited the Institution for two days from 20th and 21st January 2005. Dr. K.N. Madhusudanan Pillai, Academic Consultant, NAAC Co-ordinated the Peer Team visit.
In pursuance of the National Action Plan of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, for performance evaluation, assessment and accreditation and quality upgradation of institution of higher education, the NAAC proposes that every accredited institution establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure. Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC will become a part of an institution’s system and towards realizing the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of institutions. The IQAC will make a significant and meaningful contribution in the post-accreditation phase of institutions. During the post-accreditation period, the IQAC will channelize the efforts and measures of an institution towards academic excellence. SBMS College has established its IQA Cell in July 2005. Since then the Quality Assurance Cell of the College strives its best to channelize the efforts and measures taken by the College to implement the suggestions made by NAAC peer team who visited the institution way back in 2005.
