National Cadet Corps

The army N.C.C. wing of S.B.M.S. College was started in July, 2008. The N.C.C. wing of S.B.M.S. College has two platoons under 1st Assam Battalion, N.C.C. Guwahati, which is sponsored by the Directorate of NCC, Govt. of India. Presently the platoons have a total strength of 108 cadets of which 57 are in the 1st year and 51 are the 2nd year. Both boys and girls students of the college are enrolled as N.C.C. cadets. Dr. Dipendra kumar Sarmah was the first NCC officer of the college and was in charge of the wing up to 2012. It is remarkable that N.C.C. ‘B’ & ‘C’ level certificates have immense value in the modern competitive job market. Willing students can opt for N.C.C. in the 16′ column of the admission form. NCC cadets of the college are regularly attending annual training camp (ATC), shooting camp as well as national integration camp showing their skill and ability to a significant extent. Cadets are regularly attending B and C level certificate examinations and passing out successfully with brilliant grades. All total 7 NCC cadets have joined in police and other Para military forces so far. The N.C.C. wing of the college has earned distinction in the entire locality, organizing an Annual Training Camp (A.T.C.) in the college funded by the North Eastern Region (N.E.R.) Directorate of N.C.C., which was held for 10 days from 18 to 27′ January, 09. All total 495 boys cadets of different schools and colleges participated in the camp.
