About the Department: The department of Botany, SBMS College was established in August 1989. From the day of its existence, the department is actively engaged in the growth of the college and contributed consistently in the academic and socioeconomic status among the rural lives of Sualkuchi area. The department endeavours high standards in academic performance and social responsibility from its early days. The Department provides a vibrant environment for scientific learning and overall grooming for the future careers. The department has built an ecosystem of academic excellence, which is reflected in the consistency of good results among the students and engagement of the departmental alumni in the higher studies. Our vision is to develop innovative teaching and research activities to familiarize the students with plants and our surrounding environments. The department supports ambitious plans to explore the biodiversity of the greater Sualkuchi area.
